Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, jokingly asked “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd if he is the Zodiac Killer, a conspiracy theory that has long been tied to Cruz.
“Are you, in fact, the Zodiac Killer?”, Cruz asked Todd, playing the moderator, at the 70th-anniversary party for “Meet the Press,” an NBC news program, on Thursday.
According to tweets, Todd replied, “It hasn’t been proven.”

Other gags that took place at the Washington, D.C., event included Cruz gifting Todd a Houston Astros jersey after they beat Todd’s preferred team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, in this year’s World Series.
Cruz has previously had fun with the conspiracy theory floated during the 2016 GOP primary that he was behind an unsolved murder spree in northern California in the 1960s and 1970s. He cracked a joke about it as recently as October.
The identity of the Zodiac Killer has never been uncovered.
