Trump huddles with pro-wall GOP lawmakers

President Trump is holding a lunch meeting this afternoon with a group of conservative lawmakers who support his effort to include border wall funding in a stalled stopgap spending bill.

The list of attendees includes Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., and Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, who are encouraging Trump to hold firm on demanding money for a southern border wall. The meeting comes as lawmakers grapple with a partial government shutdown that resulted from the spending impasse over border wall funding.

Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and interim chief of staff Mick Mulvaney will also attend, as well as Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby, R-Ala., and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah.

“Hang tough Mr. President,” Graham tweeted Saturday, adding that Democrats “spend like drunken sailors on everything but border security-wall.”

No Democrats are in attendance. They oppose wall funding and are refusing to budge in the negotiations so far, which has led to a partial government shutdown.
