Jimmy Carter, Rosalynn Carter both released from hospital

Both former President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, were released from the hospital Thursday.

Jimmy Carter underwent surgery earlier this week after falling and breaking his hip Monday at his home in Plains, Ga.

The 94-year-old is already making plans to get back to his normal routine and will undergo physical therapy while recuperating at home.

“President Carter plans to teach Sunday school at Maranatha Baptist Church this weekend,” the Carter Center said in a statement.

The former first lady, 91, was also admitted to the hospital Wednesday due to feeling faint, according to a statement from the Carter Center. She stayed overnight for observation and testing, and left the hospital with her husband Thursday morning.

Carter is the oldest living former U.S. president. He served one term in the White House from 1977 to 1981. He was defeated by Ronald Reagan in the 1980 presidential election.
