LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas’ attorney general has filed a lawsuit against a travel agent who allegedly took hundreds of thousands of dollars from two marching bands without delivering on their promised trips to Hawaii.
Attorney General Dustin McDaniel on Monday filed a consumer-protection lawsuit alleging that the travel agent, Ope Saaga, violated the state’s deceptive trade practices act.
Saaga didn’t respond to an email or phone message. Court records didn’t list an attorney for him.
McDaniel’s lawsuit alleges that Saaga received hundreds of thousands of dollars from members of the Southside High School marching band in Fort Smith and the eastern Arkansas-based “Spirit of Arkansas” band for travel, lodging and activities in Hawaii.
The attorney general says Saaga used the money for other purposes instead.
