Army major pleads guilty to forced sodomy

A former U.S. Army major pleaded guilty to forced sodomy in Arlington more than a year after he was caught with 30,000 images and 100 videos of child pornography. West Point graduate Daniel Woolverton already had pleaded guilty to child pornography charges when he was charged in Arlington with raping an infant, an act that was captured in some of the videos found on his computer.

Authorities later dropped the rape charge, and Woolverton pleaded guilty to forcible sodomy late last month. He was sentenced to 37 years in prison, which will be served concurrently with the 27-year federal sentence he received for the child pornography charges. Woolverton handled Army contract litigation and served in tours in Iraq and Kuwait.

He has since been discharged from the service.
