One killed, four injured in parking lot crash One person is dead and four are injured after a car plowed into them in a Home Depot parking lot in Hyattsville on Thursday, police said. The white sedan eventually crashed into a brick wall on the 3300 block of East-West Highway, according to Prince George’s County Fire and Rescue Service officials. Two of the wounded victims sustained life-threatening injuries.
Thieves steal car with baby inside
Three men stole a car with a baby inside while the owner was pumping gas at a Northeast Washington gas station on Wednesday, D.C. police said.
A white Porsche Cayenne with an infant strapped to a car seat in the back was stolen from a gas station on the 5500 block of South Dakota Avenue at 2:50 p.m., according to police. Officers found the car and the baby, who was unharmed, roughly 20 minutes later on the 400 block of Kennedy Street Northeast.
Police are searching for three men driving a green Infiniti who were seen at the Kennedy Street location.
Man abducted from parking lot
A 75-year-old man was abducted from a Giant Food Store parking lot in Montgomery County on Wednesday and forced to withdraw money from multiple automated teller machines before he was released several hours later, police said.
The victim, whom police did not identify for his safety, was approached around 2:30 p.m. by an armed man in the Giant parking lot at the Westfield Wheaton Shopping Center on University Boulevard, according to Montgomery County police. The suspect drove the victim’s car to multiple ATMs and forced him to withdraw cash.
The victim called police when he returned home around 7 p.m., police said.
Va. car thief dies in Md. crash
A car thief driving a stolen Toyota from Virginia died Wednesday in a crash in Frederick County, according to police.
The driver, whom police have not named, side-swiped another vehicle on Interstate 270 near Park Mills Road around 9 p.m. and ran off the road, hitting several trees and bursting into flames, witnesses told police. The driver died at the scene.
The red Toyota Corolla was reported stolen Wednesday in Virginia.
