Ted Cruz was accosted by fellow travelers while he was at LAX over the weekend.
A number of people began yelling at the Republican Texas senator, eventually joining in a “Free the children!” chant. Cruz did not actively engage with the protesters, but stood there listening to them. Videos on social media do not make clear how the yelling began.
One person shouts, “Americans will not be silent!” shouted one person, who joined a chorus of chants protesting U.S. immigration policy and current situation at the border
Cruz has long advocated that the billions of dollars Mexican drug lord El Chapo forfeited when he was sentenced should be used to fund the president’s proposed border wall.

The incident at LAX was not the first time protesters confronted Cruz. Expressing displeasure at the senator’s support for Justice Brett Kavanaugh, protesters surrounded Cruz and his wife, Heidi, while they ate dinner at a Washington, D.C., restaurant last September.
Cruz and his wife ended up leaving the restaurant and, once they did, the staff asked the protesters to leave as well.
