Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., said Wednesday he plans on ignoring President Trump’s personal attacks and doing his job.
“I’m just focused on working for the state and doing my day job,” Flake said during an interview with Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade.
The senator’s comments come a day after Trump attacked both of Arizona’s senators during a rally in Phoenix. Trump continued the criticism on Twitter Wednesday.
“Nobody wants me to talk about your other senator, who is weak on border, weak on crime, so I won’t talk about him,” Trump said during the rally.
Less than 12 hours later on Wednesday morning, Trump called Flake out by name, saying he was “not a fan” of the senator who is “weak on crime and border!”
Phoenix crowd last night was amazing – a packed house. I love the Great State of Arizona. Not a fan of Jeff Flake, weak on crime & border!

Despite Trump’s attacks, Flake said he will continue to support him.
“So for my part, I’ll continue to support the president, work with him when I think he’s right, and challenge him when I think he is going in the wrong direction,” Flake said.
