Trump says his Supreme Court pick would have changed abortion ruling

Donald Trump said the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down controversial abortion restrictions would not have happened if his replacement for Justice Scalia was involved in the case.

Trump talked about the controversial ruling for the first time on “The Mike Gallagher Show” on Thursday.

“Now if we had Scalia was living or Scalia was replaced by me, we wouldn’t have had that,” Trump said of the court’s decision. “It would have been the opposite.”

But the court decided the case with a 5-3 ruling, meaning Scalia’s replacement could not have altered the ruling singlehandedly. The replacement would have needed to persuade one of the judges on the majority side to switch allegiances.

Trump, however, argued that “you wouldn’t see that” when discussing Monday’s decision.
