A New York City megachurch pastor quit President Trump’s evangelical advisory board on Friday.
A.R. Bernard is the first religious leader to have publicly left the group.
“[I]t became obvious that there was a deepening conflict in values between myself and the administration,” Bernard said, announcing his resignation on Twitter. “I quietly stepped away [from] my involvement with the Board several months ago, and submitted my letter of formal resignation as of Tues, Aug. 15, 2017.”

Bernard told CNN that Trump’s response to last weekend’s violence in Charlottesville, Va., led him to make a public stand.
