Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, 81, has rejected claims he fell asleep during President Trump’s speech at the United Nations on Tuesday.
At different times during Trump’s speech, Ross had his eyes closed and his head down.”This is fake news. I wear hearing aids, and during President Trump’s inspiring speech, which covered in detail the entire range of significant issues facing the world, I was concentrating on what was being said,” Ross said in a statement to the Washington Examiner.
Ross said his program was “not the schedule of someone with low energy,” which included meeting with the leaders of the United Kingdom, India, and South Korea after Trump’s speech.
He also said he has attended or is planning to attend events with the governments of Pakistan, Poland, Egypt, Japan, Greece, and Vietnam.
“On Sunday, I will depart on 12 days of official travel to London, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Yangon, Naypyitaw, Canberra, and Sydney,” he added.
