Sherrod Brown dodges Clinton VP pick questions

Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown dodged questions on whether he is interested in becoming Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential running mate.

“I’ve read those reports the same ways you have, and I heard she’s going to Florida to make the announcement with the vice president,” Brown said in a Wednesday morning interview on CNN.

Brown is said to be on a short list of potential vice presidential picks, alongside Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine. Clinton is expected to announce her running mate Friday from Florida.

“I have no idea. I don’t talk about this. I have not talked about this from the beginning. I am not talking about vice president, no matter how you ask it,” Brown said.

When asked who he would like to see Clinton pick from a longer list — one that includes New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Labor Secretary Tom Perez, Ohio Gov. John Hickenlooper and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack — Brown again dodged.

“Nice try,” he responded. “There is a chance that might be right, there is a chance it isn’t.”
