Kabul suicide attack slightly wounds four US troops

Four U.S. troops suffered minor injuries when a suicide car bomber targeted their convoy in the Afghanistan capital of Kabul Friday, the U.S. military confirms.

It was the second suicide attack in Kabul in two days and killed at least four bystanders, according to local Afghan officials.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast, which comes as peace talks continue in Moscow.

Reuters quoted the Taliban’s main spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, saying in a statement the attack targeted a convoy of “senior foreign advisers,” killing 10 and destroying two vehicles.

“A VBIED [vehicle-borne improvised explosive device] struck a U.S. convoy in Kabul this morning,” Bob Purtiman, a spokesman for U.S. forces in Afghanistan, confirmed to the Washington Examiner in an email.

“Four service members suffered minor injuries,” he said, providing no further details.
