Donald Trump said Wednesday that he’s mostly been leaving Bernie Sanders alone because he enjoys watching him fight Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary contest.
“I don’t want to hit Crazy Bernie Sanders too hard yet because I love watching what he is doing to Crooked Hillary. His time will come!” Trump tweeted on Wednesday morning.

Despite Sanders big win in West Virginia Tuesday night, Trump will still likely face Clinton in the general election, as she is hundreds of delegates ahead in the nominating process. As he prepares for November, Trump is working to bring Sanders supporters to his campaign, especially in rural states such as West Virginia, where voters may be attracted to both his and Sanders’ populist message.
In an effort to push Democratic voters away from Clinton’s campaign, Trump has repeatedly argued that the Democratic Party is treating Sanders “unfairly” and that the Vermont senator should run as a third party candidate. But as long as Sanders remains in the race, Clinton cannot fully focus her efforts on battling Trump.
