Downtown Silver Spring is getting a new bronze and glass sculpture to honor local veterans.
The sculpture, located in Veterans Plaza, will be unveiled in a ceremony on Friday featuring Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett, Montgomery County Council President Valerie Ervin, D-Silver Spring, U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., World War II veteran U.S. Army Captain Jack Hewitt and Montgomery County Commission on Veterans Affairs Chairman Bill Gray.
Later on Friday, the fourth annual “Tribute to America’s Veterans” concert will feature Piedmont Blues guitarist Warner Williams. The concert starts at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Silver Spring Civic Building’s Great Hall. Tickets are $20.
