Third CNN personality tests positive for coronavirus

CNN International anchor Richard Quest has tested positive for COVID-19, the network’s third on-air personality to contract the coronavirus.

Quest, 58, announced the diagnosis Monday on Twitter. He said that while he has felt symptoms from the respiratory illness, they have not been nearly as bad as what others who have been infected have reported. He also urged people to stay isolated to slow the virus’s spread.

“I have caught coronavirus,” Quest, who is also the CNN Business editor at large, said. “I am blessed in that I have few symptoms – just a cough. I am saving my prayers and thoughts for those less fortunate. Stay in. And protect lives.”

The news comes after CNN anchors Chris Cuomo and Brooke Baldwin both tested positive for the flu-like illness. All three anchors are based in New York.

Cuomo, who is New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s brother, announced his diagnosis in a social media post at the end of last month. He has been doing his nightly show from the basement of his home. Just days later, Baldwin announced that she had been diagnosed with COVID-19 and took time off from work to recover.

“I am OKAY,” she wrote on social media after the test results. “I’ve been social distancing. Doing ALL the things we’re being told to do. Still — it got me.”

There have been more than 775,000 coronavirus cases in the United States and at least 41,300 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
