Sam Nunberg, a former Trump campaign aide, predicted Monday that Stormy Daniels will win her lawsuits against President Trump and his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, encouraging other women who may have signed similar nondisclosure arrangements with Trump to come forward.
“Look, I think, I’m going to guess — and this is conjecture by me — that the reason that they are fighting or they were fighting very hard against Mr. Avenatti’s client is not because they care about Stormy Daniels but there are other deals,” Nunberg said on MSNBC’s “The Beat with Ari Melber,” referring to Daniels and her attorney Michael Avenatti.
“And the minute this deal, the minute Mr. Avenatti wins in court, which I think he’s likely to, you’re going to have other women coming out that have signed agreements,” Nunberg continued.
Nunberg’s remarks seemed to surprise Avenatti, who also appeared as a guest on the MSNBC panel Monday.
“I mean, that’s great news. We’ll see what happens,” Avenatti replied.
“If we keep up with the streak that we’ve had, then, you know, certainly it’s going to be a bowl of cherries,” Avenatti added.
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is suing to be released from a nondisclosure deal she signed that bars her from openly discussing an alleged affair she had with Trump more than a decade ago. She has also sued both Trump and Cohen for defamation.
Earlier in the segment, Melber played a clip of Nunberg from months prior in which the former Trump campaign official said special counsel Robert Mueller asked him while he was testifying before the grand jury if he was aware of any payments Trump or Cohen made to women.
But Nunberg pivoted from the clip to claim all of Cohen’s problems were a result of Trump’s meeting with Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, in the Oval Office the day after Trump ousted former FBI Director James Comey on May 9, 2017.
Nunberg then said the payments made to Daniels were simply Cohen fulfilling his duties as Trump’s personal lawyer.
“This was Michael Cohen’s role,” he said. “Michael has done this for years. So this was the role Michael was going to have in the election.”
