Fox News analyst Brit Hume criticized President Trump for tweeting out a “discredited tale” about MSNBC host Joe Scarborough.
On Saturday, Trump again called for an investigation into an intern who died in Scarborough’s Florida office while he was a member of Congress. The president linked to an article that highlighted his tweets from May 12, similarly calling for an investigation.
“A blow to her head? Body found under his desk? Left Congress suddenly? Big topic of discussion in Florida…and, he’s a Nut Job (with bad ratings). Keep digging, use forensic geniuses!” he wrote.

He followed that tweet with a separate post on Sunday morning, writing, “A lot of interest in this story about Psycho Joe Scarborough. So a young marathon runner just happened to faint in his office, hit her head on his desk, & die? I would think there is a lot more to this story than that? An affair? What about the so-called investigator? Read story!”

Trump linked to a report from True Pundit that claimed that there was evidence of foul play from Scarborough in the woman’s death, despite authorities concluding that wasn’t true. Hume criticized Trump for continuing to tweet about the theory.
“30K retweets for this discredited tale, based on a three-year old post from some wing-ding website. This is why even his critics should want DJT to play a lot of golf, because when he does, he’s not tweeting crap like this,” he wrote.

Several others similarly condemned Trump’s tweets. Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a Republican, called his claims a “completely unfounded conspiracy” while Kurt Bardella, an MSNBC commentator, said that Trump owed the victim’s family an apology.
Completely unfounded conspiracy. Just stop. Stop spreading it, stop creating paranoia. It will destroy us. https://t.co/XgDl6LmANb

You just can’t quit @JoeNBC @Morning_Joe can you? #Obsessed #DerangedDonald You owe an apology to the family of Lori Klausutis for your pathetic attempt to score cheap political points at the expense of her memory. Only a very sick, sociopath would be doing this. https://t.co/SOOpCGJTYa

Last week, Mika Brzezinski, Scarborough’s wife and Morning Joe co-host, called on Twitter to ban Trump from using the platform.
“Donald, you’re a sick person! You’re a sick person! To put this family through this, to put her husband through this, to do this just ’cause you’re mad at Joe,” she said.
