OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Omaha’s Christmas tree has been cut down from a yard in west Omaha.

Union Pacific railroad employees removed the 40-foot-tall Colorado Blue Spruce tree from Donald and Phyllis Norskov’s front yard on Monday.
The tree will be decorated and put on display at The Durham Museum, which used to be the city’s Union Station.
Union Pacific has been displaying trees at The Durham Museum during the Christmas season for more than 75 years ago.
The railroad used to cut down a tree along its right of way in the Pacific Northwest and bring the tree to Omaha. But 2012 is the 21st year when Union Pacific harvested a tree locally for the tradition.
A lighting ceremony for the tree will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23.
