Baltimore City police reunited a missing 4-month-old with his mother Tuesday morning and were investigating a suspect later Wednesday evening.
The suspect in the alleged abduction has been identified so far only as “Nay Nay,” said Officer Troy Harris, a city police department spokesman.
Harris said police received a call around 10 p.m. Monday from a woman who said her child, Michael Westbrook Jr., had been kidnapped. Police said Nay Nay showed up at the home of Michael’s mother on the 700 block of Cherry Blossom Way about 2:30 p.m. Monday and asked to take the baby with her to go shopping with a neighbor known to the mother.
Nay Nay later called the mother and said she would return the child after it stopped raining, but never showed up.
“The mother drove to the neighbor’s house and asked where the child was,” Harris said. “The neighbor stated that she didn’t go to the mall, nor had she seen Nay Nay for three or four days.”
An anonymous tip lead police to a home on the 2600 block of Oliver Street, where they located the suspect and child, who was unharmed, Harris said.
No charges have been filed yet, Harris said.
