President Trump issued a warning to Iran on Friday about forthcoming sanctions using a meme that references the popular HBO show “Game of Thrones.”
The president’s tweet featured a photo of Trump appearing mid-stride. Superimposed over the photo are the words “Sanctions are coming. November 5.”
The tagline for “Game of Thrones” is “Winter is Coming.”

The administration on Friday announced that it’s reimposing sanctions on Iran as of Monday.
Eight “jurisdictions” that import oil from Iran, however, will receive temporary waivers, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.
Among the nations expected to receive waivers are Italy, India, Japan, and South Korea, according to the Associated Press.
Pompeo told reporters the sanctions are “aimed at fundamentally altering the behavior of” Iran.
The sanctions had been lifted by the Obama administration under the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
Trump withdrew the U.S. from the accord in May.
