PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — Russ Stanton is stepping down from his role as vice president for content of Southern California Public Radio.

SCPR’s flagship station KPCC-FM announced the move Wednesday (http://bit.ly/1nidz6l). Stanton, who took the job in January, 2012, previously served from 2008 to 2011 as executive editor at the Los Angeles Times, where he led the staff to three Pulitzer prizes.

KPCC says he’s taken a new job in commercial communications, but did not specify where.

Melanie Sill, who served under Stanton as executive editor at SCPR and previously worked for the Sacramento Bee, will take over as vice president of content.

The moves were announced to staffers at a Wednesday afternoon meeting.

Southern California Public Radio also includes the stations KUOR-FM in the Inland Empire and KVLA-FM in the Coachella Valley.
