Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said he believes that Senate impeachment manager Adam Schiff is a “pathological liar” and a “deranged human being.”
“I think it also incumbent on Schiff. I mean Schiff personally, is obviously — a deranged human being. This is about Schiff. You know, Schiff is a guy who is a pathological liar,” Gingrich told Laura Ingraham.
“He lied for two-and-a-half years about the Russian collusion. It all disintegrated. He looked like a fool. He learned nothing. He came back and lied again and again. And you’re right. Here we are at the end of this cycle, and he goes back and decides to lie again. I think, somehow, people have got to decide that Adam Schiff is a compulsive, uncontrollable liar,” Gingrich added.
Schiff received national attention Thursday after he dismissed and refused to answer a “disgraceful” question from Republican Sen. Ron Johnson regarding Schiff’s relationship with the alleged Ukraine phone call whistleblower that sparked the impeachment process.
“Members of this body used to care about the protection of whistleblower identities,” Schiff said. “Now they take an unsubstantiated press article and use it to smear my staff. I think that’s disgraceful.”
Republicans have long maintained that Schiff has not been truthful about his ties to the alleged whistleblower, and the Washington Post fact-checker gave him “4 Pinocchios” on his explanation.
