The federal government is looking to supply 100,000 more military body bags for civilian use amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has sent in a request for 100,000 body bags, according to Bloomberg on Wednesday. The Pentagon wants to provide as many as 100,000 body bags and could use its reserve of 50,000 bags, according to two sources.
Anthony Fauci predicted over the weekend that millions could contract the coronavirus, while the death toll could reach 200,000.
“Generally, the reality is somewhere in the middle. I’ve never seen a model of the diseases that I’ve dealt, which the worst-case scenario actually came out. They always overshoot,” the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases added.
So far, there have been over 200,000 confirmed cases in the United States with over 4,700 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
