Former Glen Burnie High School music teacher Jeffrey Stephen Thompson has been charged with sexually abusing a 17-year-old student after giving her vodka at a Towson University band camp, Baltimore County police said.

Earlier this month, Anne Arundel County police charged Thompson, 37, with sexually abusing another former student. The girl, now 19, told police that she and Thompson had a two-year sexual relationship starting when she was a 16-year-old student at Glen Burnie High School.

The Examiner does not identify victims of sexual assault without their consent.

The most recent charges stem from an incident in August 2004, when the girl was attending a week-long band camp at Towson University and Thompson was acting as her chaperone, said Cpl. Michael Hill, a spokesman for the Baltimore County police. One night in her dorm room, Thompson gaveher vodka, the girl said. The girl told police she took a drink, began to feel dizzy and lay down on her bed. While she was lying down, the assault took place, Hill said.

Thompson was released on bond after turning himself in to police Sept. 7. A preliminary hearing in Baltimore County District Court is set for Oct. 6.

The other former student told police that she and Thompson had sex in his office at Glen Burnie High School and at his home in Severn. She also said he fondled her through her clothes on a daily basis during the school day.

Thompson taught music at Meade Middle School from 1997 to 1998, and later at Meade High School until 1999. He then moved to Glen Burnie High School, where he worked until his resignation this July.

Thompson?s defense attorney, Thomas Morrow, said that Thompson is currently looking for employment, but that he will not likely go back to teaching. “Given the circumstance, he recognizes that he is not going to have any success in the teaching field,” he said.
