Gas prices finally dip in the District

Gas prices in D.C. finally stalled, and even dipped a bit, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic.

Gas prices came within a penny of breaking the all-time high in the District of $4.21 per gallon over Easter weekend, before backing down to $4.17.

Observers say the prices are still too high.

“Although the slight respite in gasoline prices provides a little relief to motorists, consumers in the District of Columbia are currently paying the highest price for gasoline on the entire East Coast,” said John Townsend of AAA Mid-Atlantic.

Only California, where gas averages $4.25 a gallon, is more expensive than the District.

The average gas price in Virginia on Wednesday was $3.92 per gallon. In Maryland, it was $3.98 per gallon, according to AAA’s daily fuel gauge report.
