Woman suing Metro for $2 million

A tourist is suing Metro for $2 million, claiming she was injured when one of the transit agency’s busses ran over her foot.

Virginia Paget, a 74-year-old Ohio resident, claims in her lawsuit that she was visiting D.C. on business on Feb. 11, 2009, when a Metrobus drove over her foot as she was crossing the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and North Capitol Street.

She was taken to George Washington University Hospital, where she was diagnosed with a fractured foot. She allegedly developed an infection, had other medical complications, and later required physical and occupational therapy.

According to Paget’s suit, the bus driver — Anthony Andre Robinson — was cited for not yielding to a pedestrian and told a police officer that he did not see Paget at the crosswalk until after the incident.

Metro officials would not comment on the lawsuit nor confirm whether Robinson was still an employee.
