DALLAS (AP) — One person was killed and thousands were left without power as another round of thunderstorms raged across parts of Texas, triggered flash-flood warnings and dumped hail on some parts of the region.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says a male motorist was killed when a tree limb fell on his sport utility vehicle during a midday thunderstorm in Spring on Monday. Storms also knocked out power to more than 37,000 Houston-area customers. More than 11,000 CenterPoint Energy customers were still without power as of the Monday afternoon commute.

Dallas-based utility Oncor says overnight storms slowed efforts to restore electricity to about 5,000 customers without power since rainstorms packing 90 mph winds pushed through Thursday. More than 300,000 customers were without power following that storm.
