Lawmakers in Maryland are up in arms after it was revealed that a suburban Baltimore high school’s history lesson compared President Trump to Nazis and communists.
A slide used during a presentation in an Advanced Placement history class at Loch Raven High School in Towson shows a picture of the president above photos of a Nazi swastika and a flag of the Soviet Union, the Associated Press reported Sunday.
“It is horrific. It is educational malfeasance,” said state Del. Kathy Szeliga. Other local officials called the slide “a piece of propaganda.”
The school district told the Associated Press that the slide was not a part of the material provided to teachers for their lessons.
A spokesman characterized its students as “discerning, intelligent students who are going to be able to draw their own inferences and draw their own conclusions.” The school system added that the matter had become a personal issue that “will be appropriately addressed by the school administration and is not subject to further clarification.”
