Billionaire Democrat’s PAC targets districts of Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan

In a new ad calling for the impeachment of President Trump, liberal billionaire Tom Steyer’s political action committee takes aim at Republican members of Congress who defend the president.

“When the history of the Trump presidency is written, members of Congress will be sorted into two categories,” the 30-second ad says, before flashing images of Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. “The ones who let politics scare them out of holding Trump accountable and those who had the courage to stand up and defend our Democracy.”

The ad shows an image of the late Sen. John McCain when referring to those who stood up to Trump.

The PAC, Need to Impeach, is launching a weeklong TV ad campaign, worth $75,000, in the districts of Jordan and Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., two of Trump’s biggest defenders in Congress. Both congressmen cruised to easy re-election victories in 2018.

Jordan responded to the ad Tuesday, saying that the commercial “won’t change” the fact that people appreciate Trump fighting for them.

“The citizens of OH-04 appreciate that President Trump is fighting for them and does what he says. There is zero evidence of any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia,” Jordan tweeted the day the ad was publicized. “TV commercials from @TomSteyer won’t change that.”

The ad also features an image of Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., when posing a moral question to GOP congressional members.

“Republicans in Congress should support impeachment hearings to uncover the truth,” the ad says. “But first they have a choice to make: Which side of history do they want to be on?”
