Jason Chaffetz: Jeff Sessions should go

Fox News contributor and former Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah said Attorney General Jeff Sessions should leave his post.

Chaffetz said Saturday on Fox News that Sessions had committed missteps in his tenure at the Justice Department, including recusing himself from the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

“It pains me to say this a little bit, [but] I don’t think the attorney general is up to the job he’s doing,” Chaffetz said.

He said that “deep systemic problems” may be solved in the Justice Department if Sessions were to leave.

In recent weeks, the FBI, which is overseen by the Justice Department, has fallen under intense scrutiny after evidence surfaced that appeared to show some agents involved in the Russia investigation were critical of President Trump.

Trump has often publicly criticized Sessions for recusing himself from the investigation, and he reportedly blames Sessions for it reaching the White House.
