Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell will visit New Hampshire Monday — home of the country’s first presidential primary — to deliver a politically charged speech to Republicans.
McDonnell’s trip, his first to the state as a governor and chairman of the Republican Governors Association, is to a GOP fundraiser dubbed “The First in the Nation Celebration,” where more than 400 are expected to attend. Tickets are $100 for the reception and $175 dollars for the reception and a photo opportunity.
It’s the governor’s first national speech since taking over the RGA for Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who stepped down from the post to run for president.
McDonnell will also hold a special VIP reception in Concord with 18 to 20 Republicans, The Washington Post reported.
Even as his star on the national scene continues to rise, McDonnell remains a key fundraiser and donor to state Republicans and the combination promises to fill his political calendar in the coming weeks and months. Through his PAC, McDonnell is aiding Virginia Republicans in their bid to capture the state Senate from Democrats in the Nov. 8 election.
