A bouncer from a Boston bar is being held without bail after being charged with fatally stabbing a Marine Corps veteran to death over St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
The bouncer, 38-year-old Alvaro Larrama, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Daniel Martinez, 23, on Monday, said Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden in a statement.
Martinez died Saturday after being stabbed outside of the Sons of Boston Bar, according to Hayden’s office.

The former Marine was in line outside the bar with a friend around 7 p.m. when he encountered Larrama, according to prosecutor Caitlin Grasso.
The two can be seen interacting on surveillance footage and investigators say Martinez and his friend were barred from going back into the establishment.

After being denied reentry, the former Marine and his friend began to leave the premises but were followed by Larrama, the prosecutor said.
An altercation soon followed and Martinez can be seen on camera trying to defend himself.
He hit Larrama on the head with an aluminum beer container, and the bouncer responded by stabbing the former Marine in the chest, the prosecutor added.
The former Marine, who was discharged after four years of service, was declared dead at a local hospital.
