Dennis Rodman will be in Singapore for Trump’s summit with Kim Jong Un: Report

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman will be in Singapore for President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s historic June 12 summit at the Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island in Singapore, according to a report Tuesday.

Rodman will land in Singapore one day before the summit and could even be part of the negotiations, anonymous sources told the New York Post.

“No matter you might think about his presence. One thing’s for sure the ratings will be huge,” a source told the outlet. “A lot of times in situations that involve complex diplomacy countries like to identify ambassadors of goodwill and whether you agree with it or not Dennis Rodman fits the bill.”

Rodman, who has called Kim a “friend for life,” has traveled to North Korea multiple times and last year gave North Korea’s sports minister Trump’s book, The Art of the Deal.

The Ex-NBA player, who appeared on Trump’s reality TV show, “Celebrity Apprentice,” praised Trump earlier this year after a South Korean official initially proposed the two leaders meet.

“Well done, President Trump. You’re on the way to a historical meeting no U.S. president has ever done,” Rodman said in March, according to the Associated Press.

The location of the meeting was announced Tuesday by White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.

“UPDATE: The venue for the Singapore summit between @POTUS and Leader Kim Jong Un will be the Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island. We thank our great Singaporean hosts for their hospitality,” Sanders tweeted.
