The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating Harvey Weinstein for sexual assault against an Italian model and actress.
The alleged incident, which took place in 2013, falls within the 10-year statute of limitations that existed at the time but has since been eliminated, according to the Los Angeles Times, which confirmed the investigation Thursday.
It is the first case to be reported in Southern California. Police in New York and London are also investigating Weinstein.
Dozens of women have come forward accusing the Hollywood producer of assault and harassment dating back decades.
Weinstein was kicked out of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Saturday. He was previously fired by the board of his company.
With Weinstein being a longtime Democratic donor, numerous politicians have promised to donate Weinstein’s campaign contributions to charity.
