Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis claimed the number of people who have tested positive for the coronavirus is likely “a small fraction” of those who had it, as some perhaps displayed “mild symptoms.”
The Republican governor joined Mark Levin for an interview that aired Sunday to discuss how his state is coping with the pandemic and its investment in testing that measures the number of antibodies in the blood when the body is responding to the virus.
“You see different studies that have been done overseas, and I think that the consensus seems to be emerging that whoever tests positive for it is probably just a small fraction of those who have actually had it,” DeSantis told Levin. “Because, of course, for people who are in the younger age groups, people who don’t have significant underlying conditions, this could be something that is relatively mild symptoms.”
“Having the antibody tests, I think we’ll be able to help us determine how widespread has this been,” DeSantis continued.
Roughly 176,000 Florida residents had been tested for the virus as of Sunday, with nearly 19,000 testing positive, according to Fox News.
