President Trump signaled Tuesday he could be open to talking about federal gun policy in response to the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas at a later date.
“We’ll talk about that later,” Trump told reporters at the White House when asked about gun reform Tuesday morning.
“We have a tragedy. We’re going to do — and what happened in Las Vegas, it’s in many ways a miracle. The police department has done such an incredible job and we’ll be talking about gun laws as time goes by,” Trump said as he departed for Puerto Rico. “But I do have to say how quickly the police department was able to get in was really very much of a miracle. They’ve done an amazing job.”

Trump expressed his pride for the country Tuesday morning as Americans coped with the mass shooting tragedy in Las Vegas that left dozens dead and hundreds wounded.
“I am so proud of our great Country. God bless America!” Trump tweeted Tuesday morning.
His message came a day and a half after 64-year-old Stephen Paddock allegedly killed 59 people and wounded more than 500 others at a country music concert in Las Vegas Sunday night.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump left Washington, D.C., Tuesday morning to visit Puerto Rico. The couple and other administration officials will meet with island officials and those affected by the hurricane.
Trump said federal officials have done well helping the U.S. territory island, but need help from locals.
“In Texas and in Florida we get an A+, and I’ll tell you what, I think we’ve done just as good in Puerto Rico, and it’s actually a much tougher situation,” he said.
“I think we’ve done just as good in Puerto Rico and it’s actually a much tougher situation. But now the roads are cleared, communications starting to come back. We need their truck drivers. Their drivers have to start driving trucks. We have to do that. So at a local level they have to give us more help,” Trump said Tuesday.
