A duo of Christmas “Grinches” found themselves in handcuffs after police say they stole presents from a foster family agency in California.
Marie Bennett, 40, and 24-year-old Joseph Betancourt were arrested on Friday after staff at the Children First Foster Family Agency in Red Bluff, California, discovered that there had been a break-in at the nonprofit organization.

“A large amount of toys that were being held there for children for Christmas presents were taken,” the Red Bluff Police Department said in a press release.
The two were caught after surveillance video was reviewed. Police said it showed Bennett and Betancourt “coming and going” between the nonprofit’s building and a residence next door. Both were charged with burglary, theft, and breaking and entering.
“These ‘Grinches’ will not be stealing Christmas from the kids on our watch,” police said in a Facebook post that included mugshots of the two and a photo of the items that were stolen and recovered.
