Former “American” Idol star Clay Aiken trolled Renee Ellmers after she lost her North Carolina House seat during Tuesday night’s primary.
Aiken, who was defeated by Ellmers in 2014 for that very same seat, told his Twitter followers that Ellmers “won’t be missed.”

Earlier Tuesday, Aiken tweeted that he didn’t believe Donald Trump’s endorsement of Ellmers would help her in her re-election bid.
Today’s the day we find out if a @realdonaldtrump endorsement matters. I’m betting it doesn’t for @repreneeelmers https://t.co/jFQhwRsB5x

Two days earlier, Aiken called Trump and Ellmers “two leads in a damn pod” and called the 2016 election cycle “surreal.”
Rep. George Holding, R, knocked out Ellmers to take the Republican nomination. The two Republican incumbents had faced off in a redrawn district. After being elected in 2010 during the Tea Party surge, Ellmers became unpopular with conservative groups and voters alike.
