Jake Tapper hits ‘disgusting’ violence from anti-white supremacy protesters in Charlottesville

CNN anchor Jake Tapper is calling out alleged violence by anti-white supremacy protesters in Charlottesville, Va., last weekend.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday night, Tapper cited several examples of journalists who claimed they had been assaulted by counter-protesters at the white supremacy rally that took place Saturday.

“These are unprovoked assaults on journalists doing their jobs — by those marching *against* the hateful racists,” Tapper wrote. “Disgusting.”

Among those in the media who said they had been assaulted were Taylor Lorenz of TheHill.com, who posted a video on Facebook that cuts off after she is heard screaming and a man’s voice yells at her to, “Stop fucking recording.”

She claimed she had been punched in the face and that her phone was kicked away.

The photographer for a CBS affiliate in Richmond was also allegedly attacked and had to get stitches while recording one of the counterprotests, according to the station.

President Trump was widely condemned by both Republicans and Democrats this week after he said that there was violence at the rally on “both sides.”
