President Trump called out California Gov. Gavin Newsom for failing to complete the promised high-speed rail project.
“I hope the grandstanding Governor of California is able to spend his very highly taxed citizens money on asylum holds more efficiently than money has been spent on the so-called Fast Train, which is $Billions over budget & in total disarray. Time to reduce taxes in California!” Trump tweeted Saturday.

The Democrat signed a bill establishing “The Rapid Response Reserve Fund,” which provides $5 million to San Diego County to shelter and transport recent immigrants and asylum seekers.
This week, Newsom met with local leaders and residents in San Ysidro, Calif., to celebrate the opening of a new shelter for illegal immigrants and those making asylum claims waiting to plead their cases before immigration court.
Newsom used to be married to Kimberly Guilfoyle, the former Fox News host who is dating Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr.
The president sarcastically wished Newsom more luck on using taxpayer money on the shelter initiative, especially as the high-speed railway project has no end in sight with continued lawsuits, engineering issues, geological obstacles, delays, and increasing costs.
So far, the budget for the project has jumped from $33 billion to $77 billion.
