Actor Johnny Depp revealed Wednesday that he’d lost part of the middle finger on his right hand due to his then-wife Amber Heard hurling a large vodka bottle at him.
This revelation came with Depp on the stand for the seventh day of his defamation lawsuit for $50 million against his ex-wife, continuing his testimony from the day before.
Depp alleged that he and Heard were in the middle of an argument about a post-nuptial agreement in Australia shortly after getting married. After reportedly “locking himself in at least nine bedrooms and bathrooms that day,” Depp escaped to the bar to pour himself some shots of vodka.

“It was the first taste of alcohol I’d had in a long time,” Depp said.
When Heard found him at the bar, he said she became “irate.” She subsequently picked up the vodka bottle he’d been pouring from and hurled it at Depp.
“It went right past my head and smashed behind me,” Depp recalled.
He grabbed a second bottle and poured himself another shot. This bottle, according to Depp, was much bigger. Heard picked up that bottle and threw it at Depp again, this time hitting his hand that was resting on the edge of the counter.
“The second bottle made contact and shattered everywhere,” Depp said. “I felt heat, as if something were dripping down my hand. I looked down and realized the tip of my finger had been severed.”
“It looked like Vesuvius.”
This argument about a post-nuptial agreement came after many discussions before Depp and Heard’s marriage about a prenuptial agreement.
“There always seemed to be one reason or another why she either wouldn’t discuss it, or, if we did discuss it, would become an issue that springboarded into unpleasantness and arguments,” Depp said. “At a certain point, it was too late.”
Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp did not attend the wedding in 2015 because she was “not on particularly good terms” with Heard. The day of the wedding, Depp testified he smoked marijuana and Amber took MDMA, but he didn’t remember drinking.
After the wedding, Depp left for Australia to film the fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean. Heard visited him there and complained about a lawyer who had allegedly approached her about a post-nuptial agreement, which led to the fight.
“In fact, none of it had happened,” Depp said after he’d called his legal representation team that day.
“She kept saying: ‘I’m not even in your will,'” Depp said. “I thought that was an odd thing to say.”
Heard went on to call Depp an “a**-kisser” and “p*****” during the fight, he testified. After she’d thrown the second bottle of vodka, Depp could only remember her “high-pitched constant attack of insults” like “white noise.”
“It was just jumbled words to me,” Depp said. “I was in shock.”
Heard then allegedly snuffed out one of Depp’s lit cigarettes on his cheek. The actor pointed out to the court the burn mark on his cheek in a photo of him on his way to an emergency room.

Depp also admitted he lied to the doctor who treated him about how he injured his finger because he claimed he did not want Heard’s name in the mix.
Depp is suing Heard over an op-ed she wrote and shared on her social media that he said defamed him.
