The creator of “Hamilton,” Lin-Manuel Miranda, assailed President Trump on Saturday after he attacked the mayor of San Juan, the capital of hurricane-stricken Puerto Rico.
“You’re going straight to hell, @realdonaldtrump. No long lines for you. Someone will say, ‘Right this way, sir.’ They’ll clear a path,” Miranda tweeted Saturday morning.
You’re going straight to hell, @realDonaldTrump.
No long lines for you.
Someone will say, “Right this way, sir.”
They’ll clear a path. https://t.co/xXfJH0KJmw— Lin-Manuel Miranda (@Lin_Manuel) September 30, 2017
Trump tweet-attacked Carmen Yulin Cruz, the mayor of San Juan, over her “poor leadership” in hurricane relief efforts and accused her of telling Democrats to treat him poorly.
“Did you tweet this one from the first hole, 18th hole, or the club? Anyway, it’s a lie. You’re a congenital liar,” Miranda tweeted in response to Trump saying he had 10,000 federal workers on the island.
The mayor of Puerto Rico later tweeted back, calling for “no distractions” as officials on saving lives.
The president is scheduled to spend the weekend at his New Jersey golf club and on Saturday will participate in calls with various officials involved in the Puerto Rican relief effort.
Miranda, who is of Puerto Rican descent and still has family on the island, told CNN that he is releasing a song to help with raise money and aide with disaster relief; he called the song “a love letter to Puerto Rico.”
The “Hamilton” mastermind has also been staunch critic of Trump since the beginning of his presidency, speaking on against his travel ban and other policies.
