Same-sex kiss to appear in Pixar’s Lightyear after gay and trans employees protest

To infinity and beyond, Disney keeps pushing the boundaries.

A same-sex kiss is set to hit the big screen in Pixar’s new film Lightyear, according to a report.

The kiss was initially removed from the film, but it was restored after Disney employees protested the decision in the wake of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

Gay and transgender employees of Pixar and allies sent a letter March 9 alleging that Disney executives censor “overtly gay affection,” the report noted.

“Nearly every moment of overtly gay affection is cut at Disney’s behest, regardless of when there is protest from both the creative teams and executive leadership at Pixar,” the letter reads.

“Even if creating LGBTQIA+ content was the answer to fixing the discriminatory legislation in the world, we are being barred from creating it,” it continues. “Beyond the ‘inspiring content’ that we aren’t even allowed to create, we require action.”
