Trump ditches traveling press before N.H. event

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump left the traveling press covering his campaign high and dry Thursday night before as he took the stage at a rally in New Hampshire.

Trump appeared on stage for the rally at 8:05 p.m., about 35 minutes later than his initially scheduled start time, and revealed to supporters that his traveling press corps was stuck on their plane.

“I have really good news for you. I just heard that the press is stuck on their airplane. They can’t get here. I love it,” Trump said to loud cheers from supporters.

“So they’re trying to get here now. They’re going to be about 30 minutes late. They called us and said, ‘could you wait?’ I said absolutely not,” Trump said to more cheers. “Let’s get going. Let’s get going, New Hampshire.”

The Trump campaign and traveling press is the only group left to not travel on the same plane as the candidate. Former Secretary of State Clinton began traveling with her press on the same plane after Labor Day, while Sen. Tim Kaine began traveling with his press corps earlier this week.

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, Trump’s vice presidential running mate, has traveled on the same plane as his press since August.

The press eventually made it to the event about 30 minutes late and caught only a few minutes of his address before he exited the stage.
