Schumer: Trump has ‘reached his high-water mark’

Senator Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., predicted Thursday that Donald Trump’s appeal to white, blue-collar voters will not last long.

“I think Trump has reached his high-water mark. His bold, naked, and sometimes nasty appeal is going to wear thin after a while,” Schumer said on MSNBC.

Schumer said even though the Democratic party may face a “tough fight” winning over the blue collar vote, “that’s not going to be enough for Trump to win the election.”

“Trump is not going to wear well with anybody, his kind of quick facile answers that don’t explain to people how he’s going to make their lives better. It’s fine in a primary, it’s fine initially but you know for a presidential campaign the spotlight’s on you minute to minute,” said Schumer.

He predicted that the general election draws closer, “blue-collar voters are going to see Hillary Clinton is on their side.”

“They will lose more than they gain even if the blue-collar vote stays where it is, but I think we’re going to pick up,” said Schumer.
