Justice Department to announce ‘international cybercrime enforcement action’ on Thursday

Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will host a press conference Thursday morning to announce an “international cybercrime enforcement action.”

The Justice Department said in a press release Wednesday that Sessions and Rosenstein will be joined by other law enforcement officials, including Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, at the press conference, which is slated for 10 a.m. ET at Justice Department headquarters.

The agency released no further details of the announcement.

In May, President Trump signed a cybersecurity executive order that launched reviews of the federal government’s defenses against hacking.

Committees in Congress and special counsel Robert Mueller are currently investigating Russia’s hacking in the 2016 election and possible ties to the Trump campaign.
