Montgomery County police said Wednesday that a suspect was in critical condition three days after he was hospitalized following a struggle with officers.
Officers tried to take Karreem Abdul Ali, 65, of Silver Spring, into custody at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday when responding to a call about a man who appeared to be on drugs or “have something wrong with him,” according to a police statement.
Ali physically resisted an officer’s attempts to escort him out of an apartment building on the 11400 block of Lockwood Drive in White Oak, police said. A second officer arrived and police used a taser and pepper spray to subdue him.
County fire and rescue personnel examined Ali, but he soon stopped breathing and was transported to Holy Cross Hospital.
