Donald Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort said Thursday night that women will support Trump in November because they’re worried about their family’s income, and implied Trump in the White House will make it easier for families to get by.
“Many women in this country feel they can’t afford their lives. Their husbands can’t afford paying for the family bills,” Manafort said on MSNBC. “Hillary Clinton is guilty of being a part of the establishment that created that problem. They’re gonna hear the message, and as they hear the message, that’s how we’re going to appeal to them.”
MSNBC host Chris Matthews charged Manafort with adhering to an old-fashioned view that women are chiefly worried about their husbands’ incomes.
“You said women are concerned about their husband’s income. Do you think that’s the 21st Century talking? That’s their big concern, how their husband’s doing at work?” Matthews asked.
“I can speak personally to that,” Manafort said during his response.
