President Trump on Sunday suggested NBC and “Saturday Night Live” are colluding with Democrats, suggesting in a morning tweet that legal action should be taken to stop the “unfair news coverage and Dem commercials.”
“A REAL scandal is the one sided coverage, hour by hour, of networks like NBC & Democrat spin machines like Saturday Night Live. It is all nothing less than unfair news coverage and Dem commercials. Should be tested in courts, can’t be legal? Only defame & belittle! Collusion?” Trump tweeted.

Trump’s tweet comes after the late-night comedy sketch show’s last episode of 2018 aired on NBC. During the traditional “cold open,” the cast and crew imagined a world were Trump was not president, satirizing the classic Christmas film, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
“It’s awful, everything’s falling apart,” Alec Baldwin, as Trump, told Kenan Thompson, playing angel “Clarence” like in the 1946 movie. “Sometimes I wish I had never been president.”
“A world where you was never president, eh? I think we can arrange that,” Thompson replied.
Trump hosted the program in 2004 when he starred in NBC’s “The Apprentice,” and again in fall 2015, in the midst of the 2016 Republican presidential primary race.
As president, though, Trump has made multiple calls for a review of NBC. In October 2017, he raised the prospect of re-examining NBC’s license after the news division reported then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson referred to the president as a “moron.” Trump made similar remarks this October following reports the network had mishandled Ronan Farrow’s work exposing Harvey Weinstein’s misconduct toward women.
